Local Wine Tasting Events

Sharing is caring!

Saturday, November 2–I spent the afternoon at the Holiday Open House at Ray’s Wine and Spirits in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Several times a year, Nate brings in multiple wine distributors for larger tasting events. In the Spring it’s typically a Cabernet Day, this summer they had Rose Day and this fall the holiday open house. There was a nice variety of sparkling, whites, roses and red. My absolute favorite was 8 Years in the Desert by Orin Swift. The original winemaker for The Prisoner, Dave Phinney, he is past his 8 year non-compete after selling The Prisoner. We tasted the second release of this zinfandel based blend. One the day of the event, Ray’s offers discounts on the wines you purchase through this tasting event. It’s a great way to try wines you normally wouldn’t notice in the wine aisle. I also love supporting a local small business.

Friday, November 15–The Annual Ruby Tap Wauwatosa Woman’s Club wine tasting. This was the second year I’ve attended this event. I love visiting the Ruby Tap for trying new wines, this event is off site. Over 60 wines to try and the bonus is you get to keep the Riedel glass. Wines are available for purchase at a discount.

Watch for local events where you live. I love the ability to try wines at these kind of events, the prices are very reasonable for several hours of wine tasting. I highly recommend getting out with your friends and exposing yourself to new wine in fun and relaxed environments.
